ENTRY 000:
I have been assigned to oversee the conquest of Praxis. Imperial guard troops have sent a distress signal to my superiors. Chaos forces have been sighted around the planet and appear to be preparing for an attack. Many enemy forces have been revealing themselves across the planets surface. Our spies have also informed us that there is a secret location from which friendly assassins operate. Thus, I have ordered troops to move to the assassin's temple and occupy the vicinity. Allying ourselves with these assassins should be beneficial to our campaign. It looks as though other armies do not know of the temple, since none have approached it.
I plan to move to an abandoned garrison so that we may take advantage of the pre-existing fortifications. I hope to utilize the location as a base of operations to stage further attacks, particularly against the eldar that have amassed near the region. The reason for their presence here is unknown, but they must be exterminated along with the chaos forces.
Intelligence has reported that allied imperial guardsmen have encountered Tau resistance along the eastern fringe of the continent. After fierce fighting, the guardsmen were defeated. Unwilling to give up, though, reserves arrived and the soldiers managed to re-occupy the city.
SUMMARY:
Initiating relations with allied space marines. Conquer Praxis for the Emperor.
ENTRY 001:
Void Reapers troops have managed to secure a garrison and are now attempting to gain control of the assassin temple. May the Emperor be with us. Allied space marine troops have been fighting against the black legion along the northern borders. Our friends have been pushed back and are in the process of regrouping. Eldar and Thousand Sons Chaos marines have had some fierce skirmishes to the east of my deployment area. Thus far, the eldar have been losing ground.
It appears as the though the chaos traitors have occupied a spaceport and are utilizing it to strike deep into their enemies territory. The spaceport must be liberated. Our allied marines or guardsmen intend to wrest the location from the chaos marines very soon. Finally, mysterious necrons have begun to encroach on my territory. They will be annihilated very soon.
SUMMARY:
Secured a fortified PDF Garrison. Moving to occupy assassin temple.
ENTRY 002:
I decided that surprise would be the best tactic for taking the assassin temple. I deployed my fellow marines from drop pods. They were immediately punished by alien weaponry, gallantly charging through a hail of bullets in order to reach their objective. The majority of the aliens within the temple were soon slaughtered in a massive assault from three sides. In the meantime, tau tanks blasted my heavy weapon teams.
Many good marines were killed while providing cover fire for the assaulting force. Chaplain Erriun led the charge, destroying countless tau and kroot defenders. He, along with a command squad, some scouts, and a tactical squad, breached the walls and managed to hold the temple. Commander Detrius killed the enemy commander in melee combat. Despite heavy losses, the battle was well worth the effort. Every salvageable gland has been recovered from the battlefield and the local assassins have pledged their services to our cause.
Necron forces are rapidly approaching from the west. I will delay moving to the north and prepare to defend the temple. I have decided to add fortifications as I anticipate an attack from the necrons in the near future. They will be repelled.
SUMMARY:
Destroyed tau force and occupied the temple. Begin fortifying the area.
ENTRY 003:
Marines at the assassin temple have been attacked prior to initial expectations. They were in the midst of building fortifications around the perimeter when a horde of necrons approached from the west. The sentry gun was not completed and it failed to fire correctly during the entire battle. Plasma mines failed to detonate as well. Techpriests will be disciplined for their lack of preparedness.
Chaplain Erriun and his command squad performed flawlessly once again. They stormed the necron line, along with an eversor assassin. Together, massive casualties were inflicted upon the enemy army. A group of small insectoid necrons managed to sneak around the sides of the temple and set an explosive charge. In a desperate attempt to protect the temple, two heavy weapon teams assaulted the robotic creations, but arrived too late. Many marines and necrons were destroyed in the resulting explosion.
Sadly, the temple has been temporarily lost. I've dispatched fast attack marines to join with Errius and launch a counterattack. We will reclaim the temple. Necron warriors have been spotted moving away from the temple and into our occupied territory. All Void Reapers have been alerted.
SUMMARY:
Lost the temple to invading necron forces. Moving to reclaim.
ENTRY 004:
Space marines en-route to the temple have been ambushed by a small necron force. Two entire scout squads have been annihilated. One landspeeder, two rhinos, and one predator have also been destroyed. The terminators, however, performed brilliantly. They defeated one squad of scarabs, one unit of destroyers, one unit of necron warriors, and a necron lord. They provided a diversion so that a landspeeder and a squad of tactical marines could escape before the ambush could be perfected. The remaining necrons disappeared in cowardice. This battle was evidence that our communication network needs to be completed so that we are not taken by surprise again.
The ambushed troops did not arrive at the temple early enough to be of value. Thus, I ordered nearby marine to proceed with the assault. The necrons seemed determined to keep the temple. An enormous monolith was stationed at the location. The vehicle is evidence that our enemy greatly desires to prevent us from utilizing assassins. It was not enough to deter the Emperors soldiers.
The Void Reaper marines fought bravely and refused to retreat despite major casualties. They pressed on until nearly all of the necron force was eliminated. The monolith gathered up its remaining necron warriors and fled the region. We have regained our territory and will now press the attack toward the west. My goal is to purge the region around the temple of all necron influence. Their taint will not be permitted to remain. Assassins have once again agreed to aid us with our mission.
SUMMARY:
Reclaimed temple. Reserve forces escaped an ambush. Proceed to west and eliminate necrons.
ENTRY 005:
Intelligence information revealed a gathering of elite necron forces west of the assassin temple. Scouts noticed a powerful necron lord leading the enemy troops. Thus, I realized that the abomination must be destroyed.
A Vindicare assassin agreed to eliminate the target, but required a diversionary attack. Heavy support marines were sent to the location so that they could surprise the enemy while giving the assassin time to position himself for the kill.
It appears as though the necrons discovered our plan before we could deploy. A large army was waiting for the attack. They advanced quickly and annihilated nearly every marine and the assassin. Once again, our plans seem to have been intercepted.
I am beginning to fear that the enemy has tampered with our communications network. Techmarines are working to discover the problem. In the meantime, I am delaying any new assaults and will secure an unoccupied valley north of the temple. Black Legion traitors have been sighted approaching from the same direction.
SUMMARY:
Failed to assassinate a necron lord. Proceed north to occupy the river valley.
ENTRY 006:
A small Void Reapers force along the northern battle lines was assaulted by chaos troops. Early in the conflict, an enormous Slaaneshi demon burst forth from within one of the traitor's bodies. Undaunted, Chaplain Errius led an attack against the abomination. He fought well, but was seriously injured during the battle. Veteran Sergeant Migullen stepped up and singlehandedly killed the beast before it could do any more damage. His command squad held the line for the duration of the battle.
The enemy was continually pummeled by righteous fire, but refused to give ground. Chaos obliterators cleared the eastern flank of all Void Reapers vehicles. An enemy dreadnought ripped apart the Eversor Assassin and proceeded to destroy Dreadnought Fathan. Our predator blasted it apart (along with another enemy dreadnought) in retribution.
At this point, marines were spread apart and were being picked off one at a time by the traitor forces. Migullen wisely called for a regroup action so that the situation could be reassessed. We will retake the region. Necron forces have begun to show renewed vigor. They have once again invaded the assassin temple. I have dispatched troops to handle the situation.
SUMMARY:
Lost ground... Chaos forces larger than anticipated. Defending the assassin temple and advancing into the northern mountains.
ENTRY 007:
Necrons have once again launched an attack against the assassin temple. Their ranks seem to be swelling with more elite troops than usual. Their relentless attacks against the temple insinuates that something in the region is of high value to them. I sent Jevvon, a trusted librarian, to participate in the battle. His instructions were simple... search for clues regarding the significance of the temple to the necron army. He was also instructed to destroy the newest enemy leader.
The results of the battle were not favorable. Another Eversor assassin was slaughtered in combat with a squad of wraiths. Marines were in constant retreat and holy bolter fire was virtually ineffective. The enemy commander rapidly approached our troops and engaged Jevvon in melee combat. The librarian was wounded before calling for a full retreat. The remaining marines withdrew from the battlefield and proceeded east.
Jevvon's report was astonishing. He could find nothing of value within the region. The relentless necron attack is completely unexplained. Void Reaper marines are demoralized from their fruitless efforts to protect the temple. They view the assassins as cowardly warriors that have been ineffective in battle. I agree with their opinions and have decided to leave the assassins to fend for themselves. The temple bears no strategic importance and has been delaying my plans. The ineffectiveness of Void Reapers weaponry leads me to believe that the area is tainted or cursed. We will purge it after our presence has been better established on Praxis.
I have ordered our troops to regroup to the east. I am pursuing my original plans and have sent troops to claim the Defense Laser Station. Tau and local imperial guardsmen are currently guarding the weapon emplacements. Our troops will eliminate the guards and occupy the complex. It will be of high strategic value to the Emperor's cause.
SUMMARY:
Defeated at the cursed assassin temple. Regrouping to the east.
ENTRY 008:
Communication systems finally seem to be operating properly. The Defense Laser Station has been examined and the data has been processed. Traitorous Imperial Guardsmen surrounded the region with tanks, but left the station almost defenseless. Marines were sent to break through the blockade and head for the Defense Laser Station. Basic analysis proved that the station would be very simple to occupy once the blockade was broken.
Marines concentrated the attack on the left flank of the tanks in order to reduce enemy firepower. Scouts and assault marines equipped with Krak Grenades charged the battle line, destroying or immobilizing each vehicle in their path. Chaplain Erriun (completely recovered from recent battle wounds) led a squad of marines into the fray. He utilized melta-bombs to destroy a tank and proceeded to annihilate intercepting guardsmen. Dreadnought Batteth walked through a hail of scatter lasers and lascannon shots. He destroyed a bunker and two tanks before breaking through the blockade.
The majority of marine casualties were taken by the assualt squad and a squad of scouts. They fought valiantly, creating a clear path for which rhinos and tactical marines were able to travel unhindered. Without their efforts, the battle would not have been won by the Void Reapers. Another significant loss occurred along the right flank of the blockade. A squad of Deathwatch marines teleported into the battle, but accidentally deviated away from the enemy. They were massacred as they attempted to gain ground. Their efforts were invaluable, though. They distracted the guardsmen long enough for other marines to work their way into the battle unharmed. Their contribution will be remembered.
Overall, the Void Reaper attack was extremely successful. Defending Guardsmen were severely crippled and will be not be able to launch a counterattack. The Defense Laser Station has been occupied by marine forces and will be beneficial in future battles. The station should be easy to defend as it is nestled within mountainous terrain. It is vital, though, that Void Reapers maintain control. Thus, I will likely add fortifications in order to deter enemies from encroaching on our territory.
SUMMARY:
Shattered a tank blockade and claimed the Defense Laser Station.
ENTRY 009:
Black Legion traitors have once again attacked the western flank. They attempted to destroy a communications tower, but realized too late that it was a decoy. Early warning systems alerted us of their presence before they could destroy the actual tower located nearby. Void Reapers (led by Chaplain Erriun) responded quickly by surrounding the enemy soldiers.
The chaos marines desperately fought to break through the line. They split into two smaller forces and immediately moved toward our troops. I believe that they were trying to distract us on one side of the battlefield. In the end, I believe that this decision proved to be their downfall. Splitting their troops prevented them from being able to eliminate enough Void Reapers from any section of the line.
The Black Legion commander and his retinue tried to cut a hole in the center of the blockade so that they could escape. They tore through a squad of scouts, but not soon enough. Dreadnought Batteth charged into the fray and killed the enemy commander, tossing aside his tattered corpse as if it were a broken toy. The remaining retinue quickly followed their leader to their own deaths. The remaining chaos marines were unable to break through. Overall, only two enemy rhinos managed to escape the trap. Chaplain Erriun has claimed another victory for the Emperor.
Eldar troops have been fighting a losing battle against Thousand Sons chaos marines along the eastern side of the continent. They have been slowly retreating toward Void Reaper positions and have run out of space to maneuver. Instead of bargaining with us, they foolishly decided to attack our eastern flank. They assaulted like a swarm of ants. Our fortifications repulsed the attack with standard efficiency. Sentry guns annihilated a large portion of the Eldar before they could reach the bunker. Chaplian Erriun led his command squad into the fray, destroying every alien squad that dared stand before him. The battle was a clear victory and the PDF Garrison remains under our control.
New information reveals that the Necron army has managed to wrest the imperial palace away from local troops. This may prove to be a serious problem since the palace is heavily fortified. It will be difficult to reclaim.
SUMMARY:
Eliminated invading Black Legion traitors. Defended against an Eldar incursion and advanced to the east.
